Douglasdale’s Ruth to star in Knights of Music

Ruth Brown of Douglasdale has been a professional singer for over ten years, she started performing from the age of 12 doing ballroom and Latin American shows and participated in school drama shows. She will be staring in Knights of Music at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City.
She grew up in Centurion, but moved to Midrand a while back because it was central. She has lived in Douglasdale, Fourways for four years now.
Ruth graduated in 2000 from the Technikon Pretoria with a diploma in musical theatre. Her theatre credits include: Saturday Night Fever at the Lyric Theatre; the Pieter Toerien production of Hair; Fabulously Copacabana directed by Keith Smith, Blondes; and various Richard Loring productions like African Footprint, Girl Talk Nite Out, and That'll Be the Day - The Legend of Buddy Holly. She has also performed in various Barnyard Theatre productions. She has performed in Germany and Norway
“My favourite production I have starred in is 'Hair’, I played the role of Sheila Franklin. It is such a beautiful story and the music really moves you”, said Ruth.
In her spare time Ruth works on her business that she shares with her husband. “I also go to the gym and I enjoy painting and anything creative”, said Ruth. “My hobbies include oil and acrylic painting, mosaic, reading and I love watching movies”, she added.
Ruth said that her hopes and aspirations as a singer are to keep on singing and she hopes SA gets more and more top notch shows that she can be a part of and as for the future she hopes God will bless her with a few children.
“Guests to Knights of Music can expect great voices, great music and one helluva show”, said Ruth.
Knights of Music is a tribute to the legendary knights of the 21st Century who transformed the face of musical theatre - Sir Cameron Macintosh, Sir Tim Rice, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Elton John and Sir Brian May.
The show will feature memorable and sensational Broadway and West End songs such as I Dreamed a Dream (Les Miserables); I am the Starlight Starlight Express); Who Wants to Live Forever (We Will Rock You); One Night In Bangkok (Chess); and many more.
