Vehicle plunges down embankment
This afternoon, August 30, 2010 at 4.10pm a bakkie with four men lost control and left the road at the intersection of Hornbill and Jacaranda roads in Olivedale. The vehicle plunged about 10 meters down an embankment hurtled through the veldt, ramped over a sand hump and wedged between two trees.
One of the men on the back of the bakkie was then catapulted through the air and landed in a river 10 meters below.
"Netcare 911 paramedics assessed the patients and found that one person had sustained serious injuries and another escaped with minor injuries. Medics stabilised them on scene and transported them to the Netcare Olivedale hospital for further treatment", said Chris Botha of Netcare 911.
