Sector 6 security tips

Sector 6

Sector 6 have a monthly meeting with SAPS on the second Monday of each month at the Olivedale Library. The last meeting was on the April 11, 2011. Street robberies and break-ins remain a problem in Sector 6 and the following security tips were discussed:

o Please do not talk on your cell phone while walking on the street
o Domestic Workers/Gardeners are being targeted so they need to be extra careful, and should never allow access to your property to strangers.
o Most common time is between 6.15pm to 8pm
o Most common day of the week is Friday

Break-ins
o Sliding doors are being lifted to gain access onto the property
o Do not leave keys next to the entrance or windows

Alarm
o When last did you test your alarm? You should be testing it at least once a month
Remember to pre warn your security company before testing the alarm

General
o Lock and secure all windows and doors before going to bed
o If you have an electric fencing, make sure that it is working and the system is activated
o Cut back any bushes or trees that may offer easy access over walls or provide hiding places for criminals
o Do not leave un-attendant items i.e. laptops/wallets/GPS in your vehicle
