Tragic death

The body of a deceased black baby was found in a plastic bag hidden in the reeds.

During clean up operations around the Lonehill Dam this week, the body of a deceased black baby was found in a plastic bag hidden in the reeds. It would appear that the mother gave birth to the infant in a secluded spot within the reeds, wrapped it up in an apron within a plastic bag and then left it in the reeds.

The plastic bag along with other rubbish was seen on Sunday afternoon, so the birth probably occurred last Friday or Saturday.

If anyone has any information with regard to a pregnant staff member or employee or friend, please contact us or the Douglasdale Police Station as soon as possible.
