On Friday night May 17, 2013 part of the Broadacres Shopping Centre caught fire leaving a large section gutted. Firefighters managed to douse the massive blaze.
About five fire engines and two water tankers were on scene along with multiple emergency medical services. The cause of the fire is not yet known but it appears to have stared in one of the offices above the Spur and Nando's.
