Decomposing body found in car boot at Montecasino

The decomposing body of a man was found in the boot of a car at Montecasino in Fourways by security guards at around 1pm on Sunday September 22, 2013.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini of Gauteng SAPS said security guards on patrol were drawn to investigate because of the smell coming out of the car. Police were called to the scene and when they opened the car's boot they found the decomposing body.

After checking the car’s registration numbers it showed that the car had not been reported stolen. Police have opened a case of murder and have started investigating. The owner of the car will be interviewed. No arrests have yet been made.

A post-mortem examination will reveal the cause of death.
The police's Lungelo Dlamini said, “The body has not yet been identified but we are continuing with the investigation.”

Closed-circuit television footage from the casino will be used in the investigation. Officials are still trying to identify the person who parked the car there.
